CoachClock: Passenger-Carrier HOS

About CoachClock

CoachClock is a small family of free tools for passenger-carrying drivers: bus, motorcoach, and charter operators. It fills a gap left by most hours-of-service tools, which are written for freight drivers on 49 CFR 395.3 and quietly use the wrong numbers for passenger carriers. Every tool here runs entirely in your browser, needs no sign-up, and is built to work on a phone.

We built these because the passenger rules in 49 CFR 395.5 differ from the property rules in ways that are easy to get wrong: a 10-hour driving limit instead of 11, a 15-hour on-duty accumulation instead of a 14-hour window, no 30-minute break, no 34-hour restart, and a different sleeper-berth split under 395.1(g)(3). The tools encode those rules and cite the exact regulation so you can read the source.

One thing these tools are not: a compliance record. They are advisory planning aids. Your Electronic Logging Device and your carrier's logs are the authoritative account of your hours. Use these to understand and plan, then confirm every number against the official record before you drive. Property (freight) drivers are served by our sibling site, bigrigmath.com.
